Hi, My name is Max Iddles, We recently (19/05/11) went through a devastating workshop/Garage fire, Lost my workshop and all my tools & some shop stock, Kids toys, sports equipment, family & wedding photos etc etc , but what hurts the most is My Daily Transport , Our 2001 Harley Davidson FLSTC was in the shed as well . I have had this bike from new August 2001 ,and met my wife 3 weeks after taking delivery of her, she was a big part of our life & wedding and has been a weekend escape many a time, as well as being my daily Transport to and from work, It has been insured with QBE Ins the whole time up until Feb 2011 .(I have been with the SAME INSURANCE COMPANY FOR 19-20YEARS).We had (we thought) no choice as to let the insurance Lapse as work was cut severely where I was working and I forced to find another job , whilst changing jobs we had to keep paying our rent and feeding the family and menials such as Electricity ,Car Regos etc , so thought we would get away with letting the bike insurance Lapse (wrong) for a short while. If we were able to pay monthly it would have been insured on the day , but during financial hardship coming up with even a 6 mth Premium was impossible at the time. After the fire she (the Bike) was standing where I had parked her making a defiant stand , but burnt beyond repair , Back hub melted into a puddle of alloy beside her screen seat and panniers gone, tyres just a mess of burnt rubber ,People who saw her in this state were mesmerised and unable to stop looking at it. It was unbearable to think of just scrapping her , being such a big part of our lives. My Wife Shirl came up with the Idea of putting her in a Glass or Perspex Case on wheels ,untouched as is . Being a piece of Art and a constant reminder of the good times and the importance of insurance. Since the fire the amazing amount of generosity and Kind thoughts of friends and total strangers alike has been amazing, at least 3 people within 4 days of this happening that we spoke to re financed their insurances. This got us thinking, A burnt to a crisp but still proud and beautiful bike( in strange sort of way) would make a perfect Insurance Advertising Piece , could be transported to Bike shows ,Art & Trade shows ,the Grand Prix, or various Bike shows etc etc etc. It would be a Jolt to People to Insure their rides and not let it lapse like we did.. What would we want in return? that she be treated with care and respect and if we were able to get a small commission on Policies written from this unique display ,would be wonderful , as we have to start from scratch again and can not just go and buy a New Bike , we have to try to raise funds towards it any way we can. See Photos Below and imagine her in a Perspex/Glass case standing Proud and defiant..with Your Company Name on the case. SHE WAS OUR PRIDE & JOY We want to help others understand the importance of insurance and not to suffer our heart ache. Sincerely Shirl & Max Iddles
